Burmese Pythons Eat Alligators in Everglades National Park?

It is believed that Burmese Pythons have eaten the American alligators in the Everglades National Park in Florida. Pictures provided by the National Park Service via AP showed the python wrapping around an alligator.

Here is another one of the giant snake (162 pounds and is more than 15 feet long) that was caught alive in the park and had eaten a 6-foot-long American alligator.

The invasion of the pythons in the park has caused the decline of the number of mammals in the area. Scientists feared that it could disrupt the food chain and upset the Everglades’ environmental balance in ways difficult to predict.

According to the National Park Service, there are about 1,825 Burmese pythons that have been captured in and around Everglades since 2000.

Most of the pythons were pets and were released by the owners when they became too big to handle. Now the snakes have thrive in the warm, humid climate.
