“So here’s how it plays out from here. As soon as someone is eliminated tomorrow night, the remaining three will be whisked off to the airport, put on a private plane, and sent home for the weekend. They’ll do some hometown events and then at the end of the weekend, they’ll get back on a plane and into the studio to get cracking on their songs for the week ahead.
And they’ll sing three songs next week: Record Producer Jimmy Iovine’s pick, the judge’s pick and their own pick. Then it’s a quick turnaround for the final two left. The finale starts on a Tuesday, not on a Wednesday like usual so they lose a day and still they’ll have three more songs to learn.
For that finale week itself: Three songs again. One will be the song the contestant thought he or she sang the best during the season, one will be the choice of Simon Fuller, “Idol” franchise creator and one will be the song the contestant wants to record once the show is complete.”
