Bay News 9 Weather Cancellations

Here is the latest Bay News 9 Weather cancellations due to storms continuing to move through the Bay area.

Polk County
The Polk County School Board says severe weather has led them to cancell all after-school activities Tuesday.

The cancellations include adult evening classes, GED testing and games. The following locations are also affected the East Area Adult School in Auburndale, the West Area Adult School in Lakeland, the Traviss Career Center in Lakeland and the Ridge Career Center in Winter Haven.

However, the 5:00 p.m. school board meeting will take place as planned.

Manatee County
All after-school activities at Manatee County Public schools have been canceled for this evening, Tuesday, Jan. 25th, with the exception of after-school child care programs at elementary and middle schools, which will remain open until their regularly scheduled release times. Canceled activities include all athletic events, Open House evenings and Financial Night at Palmetto High. Again, all after-school activities and events, indoor and outdoor, have been canceled due to severe weather for the remainder of Tuesday, Jan. 25th.

Hernando County
All Hernando after school activities and adult education classes are cancelled due to weather.

Pinellas County
All Pinellas County public school sports games canceled this afternoon Both indoor and outdoor games were called off Tuesday afternoon because of heavy rain and thunder forecasted in the Tampa Bay region.

Parks Pals & Youth Basketball League Cancelled
Parks Pals & Youth Basketball League programs scheduled in Safety Harbor are cancelled for tonight (1/25) due to severe weather entering the Safety Harbor area. For more information call the Community Center at (727) 724-1530.

Sarasota County
All after-school activities at Sarasota County public schools have been canceled for today, with the exception of after-school child care programs at elementary and middle school and evening classes at the Sarasota County Technical Institute. After-school child care programs remain open and SCTI classes will be held tonight, but all other after-school activities have been canceled for today.

Hillsborough County
Hillsborough County Public Schools has canceled all activities tonight (Tuesday, January 25) due to inclement weather moving in to the area. That includes all athletic events (indoor and outdoor), evening meetings, trainings, or any other activity at a school or district site. Charter schools will make decisions about closings individually.
