Is Gabrielle Giffords Really Dead?

Reports all over the web are saying that congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, D-Arizona, was shot dead together with six others outside of a Tucson, Arizona, grocery store today. However, in the latest CNN news (I am watching it live on TV), the doctor operating U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords said that she is not dead. She is alive and out of surgery. The doctor added that he is optimistic about the condition of the congresswoman and she is expected to survive.

CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta says swelling will be a concern in Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ recovery.
