Chicago Fire Department – Firefighters Trapped and Killed

The Chicago Fire Department pays respect to two of its firefighters who died this morning while fighting a blaze around 6:54 a.m. in an abandoned one-story brick building in the 1700 block of East 75th Street.

The two firefighters, Edward Stringer and Corey Ankum, died after a wall collapsed. Fourteen others were injured.

“We have lowered our flags in respect of that loss for the Chicago Fire Department and the firefighters’ families,” Deputy Police Chief Tom Meloni said.
