Felisa Wolfe-Simon, the lead scientist of the work in the discovery of the bacterium GFAJ-1 from Mono Lake, California, now gets her wiki page. According to wiki, “Felisa Wolfe-Simon is a geomicrobiologist at the US Geological Survey and a fellow of the NASA Astrobiology Institute. Her research focuses on evolutionary microbiology and exotic metabolic pathways. Her work includes pioneering results in arsenic-based life.”
Wolfe-Simon received her Doctor of Philosophy in oceanography from the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University in 2006 with a dissertation titled The Role and Evolution of Superoxide Dismutases in Algae and supervised by Paul Falkowski and Oscar Schofield.
