California 200 Crash – Mojave Desert Video
Authorities say six of the eight people killed when a truck plowed into race fans in the Southern California desert died at the scene and two others died at a hospital.
It took rescue vehicles and helicopters more than a half-hour to reach the remote location of the California 200 in the Mojave Desert near Lucerne Valley. Spectators including off-duty police and firefighters helped the injured.
California Highway Patrol officer Joaquin Zubieta tells the Los Angeles Times that nine of the at least a dozen injured were airlifted to hospitals. More from Yahoo.
The crash came shortly after the start of the California 200, a Saturday evening race in the Mojave Desert.
