Typhoon Henry Path May Follow Glenda’s? Low Pressure Area Spotted Near Philippines

As typhoon Glenda exits the Philippines, another storm may bother the islands once more. A low pressure area (LPA) has been spotted near Palau (around 1,090 kilometers east of the Visayas).

If the weather disturbance does not weaken, the outlook indicates that it may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this weekend, probably Friday or Saturday.

If it intensifies into a typhoon, it will be named “Typhoon Henry”.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is now monitoring the LPA.

Here is the satellite image as of Wednesday, July 16, 2014, 9PM.

Will the low pressure area develop into a typhoon?

Update 1: July 17, 2014

Buddy Javier, from PAGASA, said that the low pressure area was expected to enter the PAR anytime on Thursday. Javier said it was likely that the LPA would develop into a tropical cyclone.
