This year is no exception, so without further ado, let’s take a look at the hottest trends set to tone our tummies, boost our minds and melt our fat in 2018…

Prehab

Prehab is quite possibly this year’s biggest buzz term in the exercise world, but what exactly is it? Basically, it could be described as  ‘souped-up warming up.’ It is the process of building strength, posture and flexibility so that when you inevitably start running those marathons or lifting heavy weights (you know you can do it), you will be less likely to suffer from an injury. Think of it as building a solid foundation upon which to build.

Climbing

Whether indoor climbing, bouldering or scaling mountains, climbing is set to be big news in 2018. Why? Because not only does regular climbing keep you very fit, but due to the intense amount of concentration one needs to put into the process to avoid slipping, it has also been found to be great at helping people struggling with mental health issues. After all, when you have to focus all of your energy on staying upright and on the wall, it’s hard to ruminate at all! That, combined with the challenge it presents makes it a great exercise in both physical fitness and mental health.

Data-Based Activity

We’ve had fitness apps and trackers like MyFitnessPal and Fitbit for a while now, and they’ve helped many an individual to get on top of their diet and exercise regime, but in 2018 the data-based activity sector is set to explode with things like the Apple GymKit, smart ellipticals and even spinners that can show you your heart rate as well as how fast you’re pedalling!

VR Exercise

In a sort of similar vein, we are sure to see more people make use of virtual reality in their bids to get fit and healthy. Using everything from actually virtual reality exercise games and equipment like the VirZOOM Virtual Reality Exercise Bike and Games to cinema screens, aromatherapy diffusers and film-class lighting to create an immersive experience, exercise is set to become a lot more exciting. Give it a try!

Getting Fit with Your Furry Friend

If you have a dog, a cat or even a goat, and you hate to exercise a lone, you’re in luck because this year is set to be the year of the furry exercise buddy with classes like dog and goat yoga all the rage.

Exercising Your Inner Child

Saving the best for last, in 2018, you can expect to see lots of grown adults jumping on trampolines, playing dodgeball., embarking on treasure hunts and even climbing trees, all in the name of fitness -really! Time to have some fun.
