Taiwan Earthquake Near Pingtung With 6.4 Magnitude Leaves Hundreds of People Injured

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan early Saturday morning, crashing high-rise residential buildings. Rescuers pulled out more than 160 people and more are still believed to be trapped inside the rubble.

The temblor struck about 4 a.m. local time (3 p.m. Friday ET). It was located some 22 miles southeast of Yujing, and struck about 6 miles underground, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
