Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek Becomes Most Hated Person After Dissing Miss Universe Winner Philippines

Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek, one of the 80 contestants in the just-concluded Miss Universe 2015, was clearly not happy that Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was crowned the winner during Sunday’s pageant.

Riek told Natalia Cruz in a video posted online, “I really couldn’t believe it, I was so upset. For me (she was robbed) as the real winner… I was very happy for Miss Colombia because she really deserved it. I’m really not happy with the result and so are the other girls, I’m sorry to say it.” She added that “… no one of us voted for Philippines.”

Fans of Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, now Miss Universe 2015, took Riek’s statement as an attack against Wurtzbach and posted their rage on social media.

On the Miss Universe Germany Facebook page, a statement has been posted, saying that Lorraine Riek was sorry for what she said and that she was happy for Pia:

Miss Universe Germany Sarah-Lorraine feels sorry for her colleague and friend Miss Colombia. This must have been the worst nightmare. She never intended to offend Miss Philippines in any way. She feels sorry for both girls. As well for Pia Miss Philippines that she didn’t have her real crowning moment.

She is really sorry if the video suggests anything else than that. It’s an emotional roller coaster what happened yesterday in Las Vegas. She and all the other girls felt so sorry for Colombia at that moment. They could all imagine how this must feel. That’s not the final result moment what you wish for for anyone. And also for Pia.

Sarah – Lorraine is very happy a half German girl brings the crown of course a bit to Germany as well! Congrats to our friends of Philippines for winning the crown after all. She wishes Pia all the best for this year as Miss Universe 2015.

By the way, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, is half Filipino (her Filipino mom) half German (her German dad).

Update: Miss Australia Monika Radulovic said in an interview that contestants could see autocue and Miss Philippines WAS listed as the winner. They knew Steve Harvey made a mistake. “We could see the teleprompter – it said ‘Philippines please take your walk as Miss Universe'”
