The baby koala named Phantom and his mother Lizzy were hit by a car in Brisbane, The Courier Mail reported. The zoo hospital’s staff said Lizzy is expected to recover.
This is the viral photo of Phantom the koala hugging his mum during her recent treatment at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.
Lizzy is now on antibiotics recovering well under the expert care of the vet team and is still getting some serious TLC from six-month-old Phantom, who is too young to leave her side. The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital has treated more than 58,000 native Australian wildlife patients to date, Phantom and Lizzy are just two who have been given a second chance.
