Is Queen Elizabeth really dead? Did Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II died?

A BBC reporter for its Urdu-language service, Ahmen Kawaja, tweeted that Queen Elizabeth II of England has died. He posted on Twitter that the 89-year-old had been transported to a hospital. A second tweet announced: “Queen Elizabrth [sic] has died.”

But it’s not true. However, rumors spread quickly on social media.

The errant tweets were quickly deleted.

The BBC issued an apology saying that the “tweets were swiftly deleted and we apologise for any offence,” it said.

“Tweets were mistakenly sent from the account of a BBC journalist saying that a member of the royal family had been taken ill,” it added.
