Lea Salonga Mentors Students at Council Rock High School South (VIDEO)

Filipino Broadway superstar and official “Disney Legend” Lea Salonga mentored students at Council Rock High School South in Pennsylvania last March 23 as part of a master class for aspiring theater actors.

Lea Salonga was the first Asian actress to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway. She portrayed Éponine in the musical’s 10th anniversary production and Fantine in 25th anniversary show in London. She also provided the singing voice of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992), and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998). Salonga was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with The Walt Disney Company.

Lea Salonga performed a medley of “I Dreamed a Dream” and “On My Own” from Les Miserables.

Noah Barson was chosen to perform the famous “A Whole New World” duet with the amazing Lea.

Lea discussed how she got connected with Disney for both Aladdin and Mulan and then performed the song “Reflection.”

Kate sang “Astonishing” from the musical “Little Women” during the Lea Salonga Master Class.

Lucas performed “Where is Love.”

Libby Tofig performed “Still Hurting”, from “The Last Five Years” by Jason Robert Brown.

Emily sang “I’m Not Afraid of Anything.”

Lea Salonga performed Blackbird with the South Vocal Ensemble, arranged by the incredible Larry Yurman and adapted for voices by Corey Axler.
