French Laundry Wine Worth $300,000 Recovered After Being Stolen Last Year

About 80 bottles of stolen French Laundry wines worth $300,000 have been recovered after they were stolen from the restaurant on Christmas Day. The wines has turned up in Greensboro, N.C.

Capt. Doug Pike of the Napa County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the wine had been found. “We recovered the majority of the wine but there are a few bottles still outstanding from what I understand from the investigators. But the bulk of it is recovered.”

The bottles of wines, which include the collections of Burgundies from the Domaine de la Romanee Conti that may cost as much as $15,000 a bottle, were stolen during a break-in at the storied Yountville, California during Christmas night last year. The break-in was discovered the day after.

“We just wanted to let folks know that we have recovered some of the wine. No arrests have been made to date, but this is an ongoing investigation and we ultimately hope to arrest those responsible,” Pike said.

Pike declined to give details on what clues led three sheriff’s office investigators to travel to Greensboro, North Carolina.
