Mike Nichols Dead: Whoopi in Tears on The View (VIDEO)

Actress and TV host Whoopi Goldberg was in tears during a discussion on “The View” about the death of director Mike Nichols.

“Mike Nichols is the one who first saw Whoopi performing and said, ‘You got something, kid,’” co-host Rosie O’Donnell explained. “He gave her the entire beginning of her career and recognized her brilliance before anyone else.”

“We did a show, last year, where we brought in our mentors,” Goldberg said, “and Mike is my mentor.”

“Whenever I’m with you, I know I’m OK,” Goldberg told Nichols. “You’re one of the few people who can actually bring me to tears.”
