Thank goodness for the immediately action done by 17-year-old, Abby Snodgrass. The teen saved the life of a 11-month-old baby in a Walmart store in High Ridge, Mo, according to KSDK.

“I was in the dressing room and I heard them call for the emergency over the radio,” Snodgrass said. “They said, ‘No pulse, no breathing.’ And I just ran over there.”

Snodgrass found a crowd surrounding the infant and her panicked mother.

“She did not look like a normal baby, she didn’t look alive. And once I saw that no one was doing anything I asked if anyone knew CPR.”

It turns out Snodgrass had recently learned CPR at her school.

“It was just a couple months ago in my health class.”

“In the fall of 2013, we started teaching every semester all the high school kids in the Hillsboro school district CPR,” Valle Ambulance District Chief Jesse Barton said. “By the end of this year we will have taught around it to around 600 kids.”

Snodgrass says the test at Walmart was greater than any she’s faced in the classroom.

“I was terrified. I remember thinking as I’m doing the compressions, what if this doesn’t work? But I had to put it out of my mind,” said Snodgrass.

Emergency responders said that without Snodgrass intervention, the baby may have died.

The baby’s family released a statement to ABC News acknowledging Snodgrass’s efforts.

“We are exceedingly grateful to the young woman who helped our daughter,” the statement read. “Our daughter is home and healthy, and we couldn’t be more thankful.”
