President Barack Obama Comments on Ray Rice Situation

Ray RiceWhat did Pres. President Barack Obama said about the Ray Rice issue?

President Barack Obama, commented via White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, and condemned Ray Rice’s actions on Monday. Rice was seen in a surveillance video, released by TMZ on Monday morning, punching his then-fiancee and knocking her unconscious. The sporting world was outraged, leading the Ravens to cut the running back and the NFL to suspend him indefinitely. The league had been widely criticized for suspending Rice just two games for the incident.

Here’s what the Pres. had to say about Rice, via NBC Washington:

“The president is the father of two daughters, and like any American, he believes that domestic violence is contemptible and unacceptable in a civilized society,” Earnest said. “Hitting a woman is not something a real man does, and that’s true whether or not an act of violence happens in the public eye, or, far too often, behind closed doors. Stopping domestic violence is something that’s bigger than football, and all of us have a responsibility to put a stop to it.”
