African Lion On Streets In Norwalk California Is Captured on Video Camera

What is this mysterious animal really — a lion, a large pitbull? Grainy surveillance footage showed what seems to be a large African lion walking across a driveway in Norwalk, California. Experts at San Diego Zoo say it did not appear to be a mountain lion.

The determination comes from Dr. Becky Pierce, Ca Dept Fish & Wildlife’s undisputed expert, and Don Nelson, game warden.

Department officials still cannot definitively identify the type of animal. They will continue to investigate.

Earlier this afternoon, a department representative visited the neighborhood where the animal was spotted to provide information and resources to help residents in the event they see the animal.

City and Sheriff’s patrol will continue to be elevated in that area.

If the animal is indeed a lion, it likely had been kept as a rare pet.
