On May 12, 2014, MLS announced the signing of a new, eight-year broadcast rights deal with ESPN, Fox Sports, and Univision for coverage of MLS. The most significant change under the new contract is the introduction of three consistent windows for national broadcasts: UniMas will air a Friday night match in Spanish along with additional matches on Univision Deportes Network; ESPN and Fox Sports 1 will air a Sunday early-evening and Sunday night match respectively. ESPN and FS1 will also share in English-language coverage of the playoffs and alternate broadcasting the MLS Cup final. Univision will also air coverage of the playoffs. All of Univision’s matches will be available online. In total, at least 125 games will be aired per-season across all three networks.
