Singapore Tourism Video Promo For Philippine Market Criticized

Singapore’s tourism board released a video to promote the city-state to the Philippine market. However, the video was criticized for being so bad. The video showed a young Filipino couple visiting various Singapore sights, including the iconic Marina Bay Sands casino and the Gardens by the Bay.

At the end of the clip, the woman presented the man with a gift box containing a positive pregnancy test. “I knew Singapore always had a surprise waiting for me!” the man exclaimed.

“This is the crappiest promo video I’ve seen in my entire life!”, one YouTube user commented. “It’s so bad I’m at a loss for words.”

“There’s a reason why they chose pregnancy as the theme for this. Singapore is currently experiencing underpopulation as more and more of their citizens do not want to get married and have children. The decline in their population will put a strain in their economy in the next 25 years. So they are giving financial incentives to couples who have 2nd and/or 3rd child. This promo is an implication of that need for a boost in their population (other than the obvious — tourism, but that’s really not the point),” another user said.

Update: The video has been removed from YouTube on Monday.
