The Invention of Wings: Oprah’s Book Club Picks Selection
Oprah’s Book Club picks the book “The Invention of Wings” as part of the Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection. Kidd’s new book, “The Invention of Wings” by Sue Monk Kidd (Viking), which follows the success of her previous novels, “The Secret Life of Bees” and “The Mermaid Chair,” is about two Unforgettable women, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world.
“The moment I finished ‘The Invention of Wings,’ I knew this had to be the next Book Club selection,” said Oprah Winfrey. “These strong female characters represent the women that have shaped our history and, through Sue’s imaginative storytelling, give us a new perspective on slavery, injustice and the search for freedom.”

As readers complete their journey through “The Invention of Wings,” a follow-up exclusive interview with Oprah and Kidd will be broadcast on the Emmy® Award-winning series “Super Soul Sunday,” Oprah.com, Facebook.com/OWNtv and Sirius XM’s Oprah Radio channel (Sirius 204, XM 107 with Sirius Premier) early next year.
