Tom Hanks Has Type 2 Diabetes – David Letterman Show (Full VIDEO)
Actor Tom Hanks visited the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday, October 7, 2013. He revealed something the world did not know about — he has Type 2 diabetes for two decades now. This type of diabetes occurs when the body doesn’t produce enough insulin to function properly. He said that he only received his diagnosis very recently.
“I went to the doctors and they said, ‘You know those high blood sugar numbers you’ve been living with since you were 36? Well, you’ve graduated. You’ve got Type 2 diabetes, young man,'” he said.
“Hey, I don’t have Type 1 diabetes! Type 1 diabetes is a really, really serious thing. I don’t have that. I have high blood sugars and Type 2 diabetes is not going to kill me,” explained Hanks. “But I just have to eat right, and exercise, and lose weight, and watch what I eat, and I will be fine for the rest of my life.
