George Alexander Louis Is The Royal Baby Name

George Alexander Louis
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced Wednesday that the name of the royal baby boy is George Alexander Louis.

The baby “will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge,” according to Clarence House.

The 8-pound, 6-ounce boy was born Monday afternoon. He’s third in line, behind Charles and William, to the British throne.

George was the name of Queen Elizabeth’s father, George VI, who reigned from 1936 until his death in 1952.

Alexander means “defender of men,” from the Latin form of the Greek name “Alexandros.”

“Louis” originates from the English and French interpretations of the German name Ludwig, which can be interpreted as “renowned warrior.”
