Tower Climber Falls, Dies In Seattle Incident After Getting Electrocuted

LakewashshipcanalHe was called as the tower climber. An unknown man who climbed the a 200-foot tower in Seattle fell and died after being electrocuted. According to the local report, the Seattle Fire Department team received a report about 12:30 a.m. Friday regarding a transformer fire on the tower. Witnesses said that they then saw a flash of crackling sparks and a man falling.

Upon investigation, the fire department recovered the body of a man from the platform about 150 feet off the ground.

Police spokesman Renee Witt said, “We don’t know why he climbed the tower. There’s nothing to indicate it was something other than an accidental death from trespassing.”

No one at the scene knew the man. The King County medical examiner’s office took the body to determine his identification and cause of death.

The tower serves power to the Lake Washington Ship Canal in the Fremont neighborhood.
