Manhunt Tweet Apology Issued By Nate Bell After Being Criticized

bell-nateArkansas lawmaker Nate Bell apologized for the timing of a Twitter post he made during the Boston manhunt of the suspects who planted bombs at the Boston marathon.

Here is what Rep. Nate Bell, a gun rights advocate from Mena, tweeted early Friday: “I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a high capacity magazine?”

The tweet was criticized by his colleagues from both sides of the political party.

Later, Bell posted a Facebook note saying he regretted his poor choice of timing.

“As a staunch and unwavering supporter of the individual right to self-defense, I expressed my point of view without thinking of the effect on those still in time of crisis. Please know that my thoughts and prayers were with the people of Boston overnight and will continue as they recover from this tragedy.”

Further in an interview on Little Rock television station KARK, Bell said he “in no way at all intended to be insensitive to anyone” and said he was “very sad that it hurt people’s feelings, that it hurt already raw emotions, that it further added to their pain.”
