Little League Shooting Leads Game Cancellation

Little LeagueA Little League shooting incident on Friday caused by a dispute outside a game, has caused officials to cancel the games.

Via SF Gate:

The incident began when two men argued at the baseball field near the Continentals of Omega Boys and Girls Club on Corcoran Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Vallejo police Lt. Kenny Park.

The altercation continued in the parking lot, where the intended victim drove away, Park said. The other man opened fire, missing the driver but hitting his car, police said.

Investigators, who have made no arrests, were looking into the possibility that at least one of the men is a parent of a baseball player.

The shooting happened outside a North Vallejo Little League game, and the organization said on its Facebook page that it has suspended all games until further notice. The suspension affects at least a dozen games involving 200 children in the league, which is in its 49th season.

A meeting was scheduled for Saturday.
