Video Footage Suspect in Boston Marathon Bombing (Updated)

Investigators of Monday’s Boston marathon bombing incident are now piecing information of the real identity of the suspect that was seen on the video footage taken from a camera mounted near the explosion scene.

The man was seen in a department store surveillance video dropping off a bag at the site of the bombings, a local politician said Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials said that they have the face of the suspect but do not have the name yet.

“I know it’s very active and very fluid right now — that they are on the chase,” City Council President Stephen Murphy said. “They may be on the verge of arresting someone, and that’s good,” he added.

The Boston Globe reported that authorities combed through video footage to find an image of “a suspect carrying, and perhaps dropping, a black bag at the second bombing scene.” CBS News correspondent Bob Orr even wrote a more detailed description saying, that the video showed a man in a black jacket talking on his cell phone “placing a black bag at the second bomb site outside of the Forum restaurant on Boylston Street and then leaving the area before that explosion.” Police used the time stamp on the video to scan all the calls made in the area and track him down.

As previously reported, the two bombs that exploded 12 seconds apart near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, were placed inside a pressure cooker hidden inside a backpack. The blasts killed three people and wounding about 180 others.
