Boston Marathon Explosions Occur As Runners Race To Finish Line

This story is still developing…this is about the Boston Marathon explosions that occurred Monday afternoon, around 3PM on April 15, 2013, near the finish line hours after the top runners had finished the race. There were still thousands of runners along the route when two explosions occurred.

The first blast was quickly followed by a second. It happened near the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel.

There are no immediate information on injuries available. However, according to reports, some people were seen with their faces bleeding, others were shuttled on wheelchairs.

Update 1 (5PM EST): Two people were killed and twenty-three others were injured, according to a preliminary statement from the Boston Police Department via Twitter.
