TV Ratings: ‘The Voice’ & ‘Revolution’ Grow Each Week Despite NCAA Games

revolutionNBC was the top non-sports network Monday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox with week to week gains for both “The Voice” and “Revolution” despite last night’s NCAA competition.

From 8-10:01 p.m. ET, “The Voice” (4.9 rating, 12 share in adults 18-49, 13.7 million viewers overall) grew week to week by 4 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.9 from a 4.7 in last week’s official nationals, and up 7 percent vs. last week’s 4.6 in these prelim fast-affil ratings) and up 3 percent in total viewers (13.673 million vs. 13.310 million), despite last night’s competition from CBS’s NCAA Basketball Finals. “The Voice” is the night’s #1 non-sports telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox (excluding CBS’s 8-9 p.m. programming, which is currently inflated by West Coast basketball).

The 4.9 is “The Voice’s” highest rating this cycle on either a Monday or a Tuesday and matches last fall’s finale (4.9/13 on Tuesday, Dec. 18. 2012 from 9-11 p.m.) as the highest “Voice” on any night of the week since Monday, March 12, 2012.

“The Voice” ranks #1 in the time period on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and other key measures. In 18-49, “The Voice” topped ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” by a margin of 145 percent (4.9 vs. 2.0). “The Voice” is up 11 percent versus the third Monday telecast of the prior cycle (4.4 on September 24, 2012) and up 23 percent versus the same night last year (4.0 on April 9, 2012).

From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, “Revolution” (2.3/66 in adults 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall) is up week to week by 5 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.3 from a 2.2), despite last night’s competition from CBS’s NCAA Basketball Finals. “Revolution” is currently the #2 non-sports show of the night on ABC, NBC and Fox (excluding CBS’s 8-9 p.m. encores, which are subject to significant adjustment in official nationals). “Revolution” is up 44 percent versus NBC’s average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (2.3 vs. 1.6, L+SD non-sports) and up 24 percent in total viewers (6.317 million vs. 5.106 million).

Note that “Revolution” has established itself as a highly time-shifted show, growing last week by 46 percent going from its next-day “live plus same day” rating (2.23) to its “live plus seven day” rating (3.25).
