Tall Men With Big Penises: What Women Prefer Says Study
In a new study from the Australian National University published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, or PNAS, 105 heterosexual Australian women (average age: 26) rated 49 computer-generated nude images of male bodies. They were asked to rate the images in terms of these three different traits: Height, shoulder-hip ratio, and flaccid penis size.
The result: Heterosexual Australian women rated the images of men with big penises as highest. “As you increase penis size, the amount of attractiveness scores gets bigger,” post-doctoral researcher Brian Mautz tells NBC News.
Aside from the man’s package size, height was a factor of attractiveness as well. It showed that “tall guys with really large penises ended up being most attractive relative to other figures.”
Why do women prefer big penises? It’s not totally clear why women prefer bigger penises, but studies have shown that women prefer larger sizes because they can increase sexual satisfaction, Mautz said.
But evolutionary psychologist Gordon Gallup, Jr. said in an email that there are some limitations to the team’s theory that female choice played a role in penis evolution.
For one, previous studies have shown that “the flaccid human penis is an imperfect indicator of the size of the erect penis,” said Gallup, of the State University of New York at Albany, who was not involved in the study.
