Boy Killed By Dad’s Plow In Tragic Accident

A six-year-old Maine boy killed by his dad’s plow has been named as Nathan Capponi.

The youngster was accidentally hit by a snow plow operated by 36-year-old Kevin Capponi. The father was attempting to clear snow from his family’s driveway following a storm on Tuesday.

The elder Capponi did not see his son as he backed the vehicle up the driveway at his home in Greene, Maine. Upon being hit by the plow, Nathan was immediately rushed to Central Maine Medical Center by ambulance from his Quaker Ridge Road home. He was tragically pronounced dead on Wednesday morning.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, later revealed to Reuters that the youngster was playing on a scooter in the driveway when the accident took place at 6.45am.

The National Weather Service has since revealed Tuesday’s storm brought up to 15 inches of snow in parts of Maine.

Greene, located 22 miles west of the capital Augusta, is no stranger to such inclement weather. Winters are often snowy and March temperatures can dip to as low as 15°F (?9°C). As recently as January 2009, a new record low temperature of ?50 °F (?46 °C) was set for the state at Big Black River.
