A skydiver survived a 13,000-foot fall. Gerardo Flores jumped off the plane for a fun jump. However, his parachute opened at the wrong time, 30 seconds into his free fall. According to Daily Mail, he was about 13,000 above the ground when parachute failed.

Flores passed out after his parachute failed and he fell unconscious to earth. Yet, he survived. He said: “It just exploded … It just it yanked me to the side. Something went wrong … One hundred things go through your mind. You are never suppose to open above 6,000 feet.”

Flores suffered broken ribs and a lacerated tongue. In the hospital, he was unconscious for two weeks.

In the investigation, the FAA found that a “critical” Velcro closure was “completely worn” on Flores’ gear.
