Man, 82, Tackles Suspect With His Football Maneuver

longview washingtonKudos to the 82-year-old man, Terry Miracle, of Longview, Washington for having the guts to tackle a 27-year-old burglary suspect identified as Morgan Perry Bluehorse. According to TDN, Miracle heard a commotion as he was weeding his garden. He came out of the garden to see what was going on and saw officers “racing up and down the street chasing Bluehorse.”

When Miracle realized that the suspect was heading in his direction, he positioned himself where he thought the suspect might be coming.

“(Bluehorse) came thundering around the house,” Miracle said. “He was looking back over his shoulder to see where they were, and he turned around the corner of the house and he was coming at me just like the runners used to do when I played football.”

Miracle said he had the perfect angle for a tackle and decided “I’m gonna get him. I started running towards him, and he stopped as I launched my cross-body block. I had misjudged. I was counting on him continuing to run so I would hit him. When he stopped he got kind of tangled up in his feet. I kicked out my knee, as I always did with a cross-body block, and caught his knee with my knee. He went down and so did I.”

The suspect got up and started running again, but the delay gave police time to catch up.

Bluehorse, 27, of Kelso, was booked on suspicion of second-degree burglary (related to an earlier investigation), third-degree theft, trespassing, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, third-degree malicious mischief and methamphetamine possession.
