KKK Robes in Class Caused No Harm
Students wore KKK robes in class as part of a history demonstration. The teacher who allowed the wearing of the Ku Klux Klan costumes won’t be punished, after Las Vegas district officials and community members showed support for the teacher during the investigation.
“While the presentation was designed to highlight the atrocities committed by the Klan, and there was no intention to harm or offend on the part of the students, it was in poor judgment and inappropriate for students to go to such lengths to convey their message,” Principal Scott Walker said in his Jan. 11 letter.
The story was made public when a photo was posted on a social media showing a student wearing the robe.
Video: The same case happened 2 years ago when a North Georgia teacher Catherine Ariemma allowed her students to wear white robes resembling those worn by the KKK.
