Stephen Colbert’s Sister Aims For Congress Seat
Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, Stephen Colbert’s sister is aiming for South Carolina’s vacant Congressional seat. The seat was left vacant by Tim Scott, a Republican who was appointed to the U.S. Senate this month.
A special election is set on May 7. If Colbert-Busch pushes with her plan to run, she will run as a Democrat. Former Republican Governor Mark Sanford and Republican Teddy Turner (the son of cable television mogul Ted Turner), have plans to run for the seat.
Colbert-Busch is director of business development for the Clemson University Restoration Institute, which is building a wind turbine drivetrain testing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina.
