Miss America Autistic Candidate From Montana (VIDEO)

Her name is Alexis Wineman. She is the 18-year-old Miss Montana who will represent her State on Saturday night for the 2013 Miss America pageant. She is actually special, being the only Miss America autistic candidate. According to Yahoo, at age 11, she was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS).

“I suffer from constant meltdowns if things get too stressful. I have problems understanding common sayings. I take things very literally. And I have trouble communicating at times,” Alexis said in an interview with Fox and Friends.

Will she become the first ever Miss America winner with autism? Wineman hopes to use the Miss America platform to spread awareness about autism.

I wish her the best on Saturday’s pageant.
