Government of Puebla Celebrates Cinco de Mayo

As Mexico commemorates the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of Battle of Puebla, the Government of Puebla invites US tourists to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Puebla, a place where culture, nature and traditions intertwine.

“The city is making final adjustments for Cinco de Mayo, the streets are full with visitors experiencing the beauty and attractions of Puebla. It is very exciting to see and feel the bustle and movement of the crowds that are partaking in the celebratory festival,” said Eric Rojo, Washington DC Representative, Cinco de Mayo Planning Committee.

Visitors can participate in myriad festivities such as the Cinco Mayo Parade, the Reenactment of the Battle of Puebla, and the Cinco de Mayo Concert where Marc Anthony is expected to perform for more than 40,000 people at the Cuauhtemoc Stadium.

The first international mole festival celebrating Puebla’s gastronomy will take place during the 150th Anniversary of Cinco de Mayo, where chefs from all over the world will meet in Puebla to celebrate Mexico’s most iconic dish: Mole Poblano.

Celebrity chefs and food experts such as Rick Bayless, Mark Bittman, Patricia Quintana, and Marcela Valladolid will discuss traditions, innovations and their personal experiences related to the poblano cuisine.

“This week we will enjoy the Mole Festival and explore the many varieties of Mole Poblano, a magnificent treat of our culinary senses. Puebla is preparing not only for this weekend, but rather to continue welcoming visitors throughout the year with new festivals and special events,” added Eric Rojo.
