Soul Singer Etta James Dies at 73

Legendary soul singer Etta James died Friday morning in Riverside, Calif. She was 73. Her manager, Lupe De Leon, said that the cause of her death was complications of leukemia. The singer had been battling the disease since 2010.

“It’s a tremendous loss for her fans around the world. She’ll be missed. A great American singer. Her music defied category,” De Leon said in a statement.

Etta James was known for the hits as “The Wallflower,” “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” and the wedding favorite “At Last.”
