Turkey Earthquake Today Measures 7.2

Turkey has been hit by a massive 7.2 magnitude earthquake today. According to USGS, the quake struck eastern Turkey on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 10:41:21 UTC, with epicentre located at the village of Tabanli, 20 km north of Van city.

As many as 1,000 people were feared killed as hundreds of buildings collapsed. Also, more than 20 aftershocks shook the area.
