With the news of the death of Amy Winehouse today at age 27, people with superstitious beliefs could not help but wonder what’s in the number 27. Popular artists like Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, all died at age 27. “The 27 Club” is growing…

Apart from the age, there are also some common things among them.

Lead singer and lyricist of the rock band The Doors, Jim Morrison, according to reports, had died of a heroin overdose, having insufflated what he believed to be cocaine.

Jimi Hendrix was a singer-songwriter and considered to be the greatest electric guitarist in musical history. He was widely known for and associated with the use of psychedelic drugs, most notably lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).

Janis Joplin was considered as The Queen of Rock and Roll as well as The Queen of Psychedelic Soul. The official cause of death was an overdose of drugs, possibly combined with the effects of alcohol.

Kurt Cobain was a singer-songwriter, musician and artist, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana. A high concentration of heroin and traces of Valium were also found in his body.

Brian Jones was the founding member of The Rolling Stones. The coroner’s report stated “death by misadventure”, and noted his liver and heart were heavily enlarged by drug and alcohol abuse.

It looks like that those with drug problems die at age 27. This should warn others to take it easy. What do you think?
