Takashi Murakami Superflat Art on Google Doodle

Google Doodle celebrates the Summer Solstice 2011 (and the Winter Solstice) by featuring the work of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.

The doodles Murakami created for Google used his signature cartoon drawings, one with a summer scene (for the Northern Hemisphere) and another set in winter (for the Southern Hemisphere).

Google tweeted: “Two super fun, superflat doodles today created by one of our favorite artists Takashi Murakami.”

Superflat refers to an art movement created by Murakami that attempted to introduce the international art scene to Japanese artists, animators, cartoonists, and more.
