Can You Eat Meat on Ash Wednesday

The Lent season starts today, Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Catholics who are not sure about the rules on eating meat would ask this “Can you eat meat on Ash Wednesday?” The answer is no. Catholics aged 14 and over should not eat meat on Ash Wednesday and every Friday during the 40-day Lent period.
