Vinita Nair on One Life to Live

The co-anchor of ABC World News Now became a TV soap star, at least for a day. Vinita Nair appeared on ABC’s soap opera One Life To Live as a doctor in Natalie’s pregnancy storyline.

The episode was aired last month.

Who is Vinita Nair?
Vinita Nair is co-anchor of “World News Now” and “America This Morning,” ABC’s early morning news programs. In addition to this role, Nair contributes reports to all other ABC News’ broadcasts and platforms.

Prior to being named co-anchor of ABC’s early morning broadcasts in September 2008, Nair was an anchor and correspondent for ABC News NOW. In that role she anchored live coverage and news briefs for ABC’s 24-hour digital network, which delivers live, breaking news headlines every half-hour and original programming.

Prior to joining ABC News in December 2007, Nair was lead evening reporter and anchor at KWGN-TV, the CW affiliate in Denver. She joined the station in July of 2004 and reported on a wide range of topics, including the Jon Benet Ramsey murder investigation and the Bailey, Colorado School Shootings. Previously she was an anchor and reporter for KOLN/KGIN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she anchored daily morning and afternoon newscasts.

Nair began her career in television news at WGEM-TV, the NBC affiliate in Quincy, Illinois, where she worked as a general assignment reporter. She has also worked for WYCC-TV, Chicago’s Public Access Network and the Illinois Evanston Community Cable Channel. Prior to pursuing television journalism, she was both a writer for Today’s Chicago Woman and a reporter for Talk Radio News in Washington DC.

Nair is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois. She is originally from Colleyville, Texas.
