East West Shrine Game 2011

East West Shrine Game 2011 kicks off! East and West will meet again to celebrate the game’s 86th year today, Jan. 22, 2011 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. The game will kick-off at 4 p.m., ET.

The annual East-West Shrine Game is the most respected and longest-running college post-season bowl game, pitting teams comprised of players from schools in the eastern United States against schools in the western United States.

Tickets for the game are on sale now through the game’s website at www.shrinegame.com and through Ticketmaster. The East-West Shrine Game will be broadcast nationally on NFL Network, the only television network fully dedicated to the NFL and the sport of football.

For players, an invitation to the game is a chance to showcase their abilities to play professional-level football for representatives of all 32 NFL teams. East-West Shrine Game® player alumni include Tom Brady, Brett Farve, John Elway, Larry Csonka and Gale Sayers.

Each team is led by a current or former NFL coach and staff; this year’s coaches are Dan Reeves and Wade Phillips. Past coaches have included Gene Stallings, Bobby Ross, Don Shula, Romeo Crennel and Marty Schottenheimer.

While players are divided by East and West, they come together for the beneficiary of the event, Shriners Hospitals for Children.

There are several public events during game week including team practices, the East-West Shrine Game Golf Tournament, players and coaches meet and greet, and the Hall of Fame Banquet. For more information about the East-West Shrine Game and events, please visit www.shrinegame.com
