Metrodome Collapse Unexpected – Metrodome Roof Caves In

Due to heavy snow and extreme blizzard conditions over parts of Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota since Friday, the Metrodome in Minneapolis collapsed. The Metrodome roof of the Minneapolis’ 64,000-seat football stadium caved in, its iconic dome no longer visible after more than 17 inches of snow blanketed the Twin Cities.

The game between the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings scheduled on Sunday was postponed until Monday night.

CNN meteorologist Bonnie Schneider said that 17.5 inches of snow has fallen in Minneapolis since Friday.
