Gravitas Definition: No Gravitas Says Rove to Palin

Karl Rove, a former adviser to President George W. Bush and Republican strategist, says that Sarah Palin lacks ‘gravitas’ when asked about Palin running for president in 2012.

“With all due candour, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of ‘that helps me see you in the Oval Office’,” Rove told The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Gravitas Definition:
1. Substance; weightiness: a frivolous biography that lacks the gravitas of its subject.
2. A serious or dignified demeanor: “Our national father figure needs gravitas, [but] he’s pitched himself as the kid brother”
