Jimmy Fallon Emmys Hosting – A Hit To Viewers

Jimmy Fallon’s Emmys hosting of last night’s event was a hit, as it drew almost exactly as many viewers as last year’s awards telecast, according to Nielsen ratings. About 13.5 million viewers watch the Emmys 2010, up about 32,000 viewers from last year’s telecast.

Those extra tens of thousands are enough to make Mr. Fallon’s Emmys the “top-scoring Emmy Awards in total viewers in four years,” NBC said, if the preliminary numbers hold, that is. The awards sank to an all-time low, 12.2 million viewers, in 2008.

Among viewers ages 18 to 49, the telecast was down just one-tenth of a ratings point, 4.1 from 4.2 last year, according to the early data.
