Dustin Johnson Bunker Penalty Video

Dustin Johnson needed a par or better on the 18th hole at Whistling Straits to win the 2010 PGA Championship. He finished the hole with a bogey, and would have went into a 3-man playoff for the win. But instead, a rules official told him he would be penalized 2 strokes for grounding his club in the “bunker”. The rules state that you cannot address a ball in a bunker and then back away from it, but the debate rages on to whether or not this should have been considered a “bunker” because spectators were allowed to walk in it. Dustin didn’t think it was a bunker, but all he could do was watch the 2-man playoff between Bubba Watson and Martin Kaymer. Kaymer went on to win the tournament.
