95.5 The Beat Radio is Off Air

95.5 The Beat radio is no longer on air, as announced by anopen letter from WSB Radio VP/Market Manager Dan Kearney. Read the letter below:

I wanted to let our loyal listeners know that 95.5 FM The BEAT is no longer on the air as a contemporary hit radio format but now a 24-hour simulcast of News/Talk WSB. So why the change?

First, I want to thank our loyal listeners and advertisers for their support of the station over the last several years. We have enjoyed serving the Atlanta community with 95.5 FM The BEAT and bringing you the top rhythmic hits of today.

We evaluated the marketplace and made some difficult choices with regard to finding the best way to run our business operations while still meeting the needs of our listening audience and our valued advertisers. While The BEAT’s format was popular on the radio, we had to look for ways to running all of our businesses more efficiently and leveraging our most valuable asset in this highly competitive environment.

The decision to simulcast our 24-hour news/talk format will offer valuable news and talk radio content to a wider listening audience, while affording us the opportunity to continue our role as a strong, valued community leader.

The good news is… 95.5 FM The BEAT is not going away completely!

You can still listen to 95.5 FM The BEAT’s top rhythmic hits online at through our website at www.9555thebeat.com . Just click on “Listen Live.” And for those listeners who own HD radios, simply tune your HD radio to 97.1 HD2 to hear your favorite hits. and on HD Radio at 97.1 HD2. Just click on “Listen Live”.

I know many of you will be disappointed The Beat will not be there for your drive to and from work and school, and not hearing the friendly voices of “Murph Dawg and CJ In the Morning” and our other talented DJs will be hard to get used to. I share your disappointment as I was personally a big fan of their shows also. My hope is, providing you with the this music on HD Radio and an online format at www.955thebeat.com. You still are able to continue to hear the songs you know and love.
